Ethan Basanov Biomedical Engineering Intern

Ethan is an undergraduate student completing a major in electrical engineering at the University of Calgary. He is passionate about developing technology in the medical field that will improve people’s lives. Ethan takes a great interest in multiple aspects of the engineering process from initial design to physical implementation. He would like to further explore how the electrical, mechanical, and biomedical components can be used in conjunction to complete a project. Ethan is currently completing a one-year co-op student program and is expecting to complete his BSc in Electrical Engineering by 2025.

Tyler Santos Biomedical Engineering Intern

Tyler is a Biomedical Engineering student with the University of Calgary. His wants to apply engineering to help improve people’s mobility, especially through prosthetics, exoskeletons and any other such assitive devices. Tyler has more recently also taken an interest in sensors that can be used with the body for various detection applications such as blood glucose monitors. He is currently working at FUEL on a one year biomedical engineering internship and expects to graduate by 2025.

Gemma Hale Boyes Biomedical Engineering Intern

Gemma is an undergraduate student at the University of Calgary currently completing her degree in Biomedical Engineering. She is extremely interested in neurostimulator prosthetic development, motion and movement analysis, and advancing alternative therapies to treat injuries. Gemma was working with FUEL during the summer of 2023, and is now continuing on with the third year of her degree.

Michael Schultz Biomedical Engineering Intern

Michael is an EIT who recently graduated from the U of C with a BSc in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Biomedical Engineering. His work experience includes developing 3D printed prosthetics, race car aerodynamic components, and a gait analysis system. Michael is especially passionate about creating devices to help restore human mobility and improve the quality of care in our medical system. Mike was with FUEL from May through August 2022.

Sunaina Rangarajan Co-op Student

Sunaina is an undergraduate student completing a major in mechanical engineering with a minor in biomedical engineering from the University of Calgary. She has a strong interest in technologies related to human mobility and innovative medical device development. Sunaina is carrying out a one-year co-op student program with FUEL and is expected to complete her BSc Engineering degree in April 2024. Sunaina was with FUEL from May 2022 to April 2023. She is now completing her engineering degree at the University of Calgary.
